After a historic afternoon Saturday vs. Wilkes, freshman Katie Pagano (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) was named the Landmark Conference's Women's Golf Athlete of the Week on Monday afternoon for the period ending Sept. 29, 2019.
On the day at Scranton Municipal Golf Course, Pagano posted the lowest round in the history of the Scranton women's golf program in an event with a 78, besting the previous low by five shots. The sub-80 round was also the first in the history of the program, as well, as Pagano and the Royals posted a team score of 333, the lowest in program history.
For the year, Pagano's scoring average is 89.25 in her first semester on the team, which is third-best on the squad entering the last few events of the fall portion of the schedule for the Royals.
Pagano and the rest of The University of Scranton women's golf team returns to action on Oct. 8, taking part in the Drew Invitational in Morristown, N.J.
