Junior Elena Gallo (East Meadow, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial) led The University of Scranton women's lacrosse team to a 1-1 week by scoring eight goals, including seven in a win at Misericordia on Tuesday. For her efforts, she has been named The University of Scranton Athlete of the Week.
Gallo enjoyed an outstanding game against the Cougars on Tuesday, netting a career and game-high seven goals on 10 shots as the Royals posted a 12-10 victory. She also picked up one ground ball and one caused turnover while accounting for seven of Scranton's first 10 goals in the contest.
Gallo followed up with a goal, two caused turnovers, and one groundball in a 16-14 setback at Haverford on Saturday as the Royals suffered their first loss of the season.
For the year, Gallo leads Scranton in scoring with 13 points on a team-high 12 goals to go along with one assist. She has also collected three caused turnovers and three ground balls.
Gallo and the Royals will return to action on Thursday with a non-conference tilt at Ithaca starting at 4:00 p.m.
