Sophomore midfielder Kate Calabro (Seaford, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial) of The University of Scranton women's lacrosse team excelled all over the field over the past two games to lead the Royals to a pair of victories.  For her efforts, she has been honored as the Landmark Conference Defensive Athlete of the Week.

In a 15-4 win at Marywood on Wednesday night, Calabro led all players with 10 draw controls while dishing out a pair of assists.

She followed that effort up with a huge all-around performance in Scranton's 21-4 victory over Goucher on Sunday, posting game-highs of six draw controls and three caused turnovers, while tying for a game-high with four groundballs.  Calabro also recorded four points on one goal and three helpers in the Royals' Landmark Conference-opening win over the Gophers.

This season, Calabro leads Scranton with 48 draw controls, is tied for the team-lead with 13 caused turnovers, and ranks second on the squad with 17 ground balls.  She has also totaled 25 points on 12 goals and a team-high 13 assists.

Calabro and the Royals will visit #22 Catholic on Thursday for a Landmark Conference matchup starting at 12:00 p.m. in Washington, D.C.
