The University of Scranton women's lacrosse team was well-represented on the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-Boardwalk Region Team which was released on Thursday afternoon.  Sophomores Becca Russo (South Windsor, Conn./South Windsor) and Kate Calabro (Seaford, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial) were named First Team All-Region while junior Elena Gallo (East Meadow, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial) garnered Second Team All-Region honors.

Russo earned All-Region accolades for the second time in as many years, followed up Second Team honors as a freshman by claiming a First Team nod following an outstanding sophomore season for the Royals. Russo, a First Team All-Landmark Conference honoree as a defender, led the Royals with 54 ground balls on the season and ranked second on the squad with 30 caused turnovers.  She also totaled 45 draw controls and scored one goal on the season.

Calabro added First Team All-Region honors to an already decorated debut season at Scranton. The sophomore midfielder, who was named the Landmark Conference Rookie of the Year and was a First Team All-Conference selection, ranked second on the Royals' scoring chart with 56 points on 25 goals and a team-leading 31 assists. She also led the squad with 112 draw controls and 32 caused turnovers while scooping up 40 ground balls this spring.

Gallo earned Second Team All-Region laurels after a strong junior season at attack for the Royals in which she captured First Team All-Landmark Conference honors.  Gallo paced Scranton in scoring with 69 points on a team-high 61 goals to go along with eight assists.  She also picked up 21 ground balls, had 11 caused turnovers, and added one draw control on the season.

Scranton went 12-7 (6-1 Landmark) this past season, posting its most wins since the 2005 season and recording the best Landmark Conference record in program history.  The Royals also advanced to the Landmark Conference championship game for the third year in a row.

Scranton's trio was among 256 student-athletes in Division III who were honored on Thursday with a selection to one of the All-Region teams for 2018. These student-athletes are now eligible to be named to a national IWLCA All-American team. The IWLCA will celebrate the 2018 All-Americans during Divisional All-American Announcement Shows, which will be launched online in mid-June.
