The University of Scranton women's lacrosse team moved up five spots in the latest Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division III Coaches Poll, as the Royals are ranked 20th in the poll, which was released on Monday afternoon.

Garnering 135 points in the poll, Scranton joined 17th-ranked Catholic as the only two Landmark Conference teams ranked in this week's IWLCA Top 25 Coaches Poll. For the full poll from the IWLCA, click here.

Off to their second 4-0 start in the last three seasons, the Royals continued their winning ways this past week, as they bested Misericordia (13-4) and No. 21 Haverford (13-12) in a pair of games that were played at Weiss Field.

Leading the offense on the week for Scranton was senior Christine Olert (Katonah, N.Y./Somers), who had two goals in the Misericordia match and a hat trick in the Haverford contest. Olert also scored the eventual game-winning goal on Saturday against Haverford, as her tally with 6:23 left broke a 12-12 tie.

Defensively, junior Becca Russo (South Windsor, Conn./South Windsor) once again led the unit on the week, as she had four ground balls and four caused turnovers in the Haverford match, to go along with seven draw controls. Against Misericordia, the Royals defense shutout the visiting Cougars for 43 minutes, and forced 29 turnovers, as well.

The University of Scranton women's lacrosse team returns to action on Sunday, as they take on No. 22 Ithaca (1-1) at Weiss Field in non-conference match. Things get underway at 1 p.m.
