HUNTINGDON, Pa. - Three University of Scranton women's lacrosse players scored three goals, apiece, as the Royals opened a 13-1 lead at halftime and never looked back at Juniata on Saturday, collecting a convincing 17-3 win on the road in Landmark Conference action.

With the win, Scranton, who is ranked 20th in the IWLCA Division III Top 25, moved to 9-1 overall and 2-0 in the Landmark Conference. The Royals also extended their winning streak to five games with the victory.

Juniata fell to 5-6 overall and 0-2 in the Landmark with the defeat.

In the win, Scranton put the game away in the first 30 minutes of play, as after Juniata scored a goal in the 21st minute to make it a 1-1 game, Scranton scored 12 unanswered goals to close out the first half with an insurmountable 13-1 lead at halftime.

From there, it was academic for Scranton in the second half with the clock running without stoppage the entire period. Overall, the Royals once again held an opponent to single digits in goals, marking the fifth straight match that has occurred and the seventh time in 10 matches on the year the Royals have held an opponent to single-digit goals.

Overall on the day, Scranton's offense was led by three players who had hat tricks - sophomores Bridget Lalley (Breaking Ridge, N.J./Ridge) and Jill Henson (Baldwinsville, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy), and senior Elena Gallo (East Meadow, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial). Henson also recorded an assist in the win, as well.

Elsewhere, senior Christine Olert (Katonah, N.Y./Somers) had two goals on the afternoon, while Scranton's other six goals were scored by the following players: sophomore Raegen Dunn (Freehold, N.J./Freehold Township), freshman Jennifer Williams (Branchburg, N.J./Somerville), sophomore Bridget Doyle (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Valley), junior Shannon Warburton (Wantagh, N.Y./Wantagh), junior Kate Calabro (Seaford, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial), and freshman Jaclyn McCusker (River Edge, N.J./River Dell).

Meanwhile, in the ground ball category, Dunn, junior Becca Russo (South Windsor, Conn./South Windsor) and freshman Emily Schum (East Hanover, N.J./Morris Catholic) had three ground balls, apiece, to lead Scranton. Calabro and Russo had four draw controls, apiece, while Schum and Henson led the way with three caused turnovers, apiece.

In net, sophomore Lauren Devlin (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West) started and moved to 5-0 on the year after making five saves in the first half.

The University of Scranton women's lacrosse team returns to action on Tuesday, as they travel to Rowan for a non-conference match. Action begins at 7 p.m.
