ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. - The 20th-ranked University of Scranton women's lacrosse team bounced back in a big way from a tough loss to Catholic last weekend on Thursday, as the Royals opened an 11-1 lead on host Elizabethtown and never looked back in a 19-8 victory in Landmark Conference action.

With the victory, the Royals, who have already clinched a bid into the Landmark Conference Playoffs, moved to 13-2 overall and 5-1 in the Landmark. With 13 victories for the year, Scranton has matched the second most victories in a year in program history equalling the mark of the 2003 team who finished 13-4.

Elizabethtown fell to 5-10 and 2-4 in the Landmark with the defeat.

To start the contest Thursday, the Royals opened a 5-0 lead in the first 11 minutes of play, then extended the lead out to 10 goals (11-1) with 12:59 to go in the period. Once Scranton took a big lead in the contest, they never looked back, as they opened a 13-5 lead at halftime, then scored the first three goals of the second half to go up 16-5 on the Blue Jays.

From there, it was academic for the Royals, as they coasted over the final 16 minutes of regulation, holding E-Town to single-digit goals on the afternoon, marking the ninth time on the season they've held an opponent to under 10 goals.

Overall on the day for the Royals, freshman Halle Conklin (Point Lookout, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial) had a big game, finishing with four goals, three assists, four draw controls, and two ground balls. Meanwhile, two players had hat tricks for the Royals - seniors Elena Gallo (East Meadow, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial) and Christine Olert (Katonah, N.Y./Somers).

Elsewhere, a trio of players posted a pair of goals for the Royals in senior Kaitlyn Murphy (Somers, N.Y./North Salem), freshman Jennifer Williams (Branchburg, N.J./Somerville), and junior Shannon Warburton (Wantagh, N.Y./Wantagh). With her two-goal day, Warburton went over the 100 career point plateau, becoming the 28th player in program history to reach the milestone for a career all-time.

Rounding out the scoring sheet for Scranton was sophomore Bridget Lalley (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge), junior Siobhan Warburton (Wantagh, N.Y./Wantagh), and sophomore Jill Henson (Baldwinsville, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy). Henson also had two assists and two caused turnovers in the win, as well.

Junior Becca Russo (South Windsor, Conn./South Windsor) led the way on the defensive end for the Royals yet again in the win, as she finished with three caused turnovers and ignited the offense with a game-high seven draw controls.

Meanwhile, in goal, sophomore Lauren Devlin (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West) earned the win, playing the entire first half and making four saves. Junior Erin Putnam (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks East) came in the second half and stopped seven shots overall.

The University of Scranton women's lacrosse team returns to action on Tuesday, as they travel to Cabrini for their final non-conference game of the regular season. Things get underway at 7 p.m.
