Senior Zachary D'Apolito (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Valley Senior) of The University of Scranton wrestling team had a solid performance over the weekend, finishing fourth at 184 pounds at the NCAA Mideast Regional. As a result, he has been named The University of Scranton Athlete of the Week.

D'Apolito opened the event at Ithaca College in Ithaca, N.Y. by posting a pair of wins on Saturday to reach the semifinals. He opened with a 3-1 decision over Ursinus's Benjamin Maack, then knocked off RIT's Joe Cutugno, 6-4, to reach the semifinals.

On Sunday, D'Apolito fell victim to a third-period pin in his semifinal match against top-seeded Jake Ashcroft of Ithaca. That bumped D'Apolito to the consolation bracket, where he defeated Maack for a second time, this time 9-4. That put D'Apolito in the third-place match against Cutugno, but he couldn't knock off the RIT wrestler a second time, falling 7-4.

D'Apolito finishes his career with 66 victories, which ranks 10th all-time in Royals history. He also finishes with two top-five regional finishes, having earned a fifth-place finish at 165 pounds in 2015.
