Senior Keegan Connelly (Schnecksville, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic) of The University of Scranton wrestling team remained undefeated on the season in four dual matches this past week, and for his efforts, he was named the Scranton Athlete of the Week for the period ending Nov. 24, 2019, on Monday.
For Connelly, this marks the third time in his career that he has been named Scranton Athlete of the Week, taking the award previously on Dec.5, 2016 and Jan. 7, 2019.
On the week, Connelly led the Royals to a 3-1 mark that pushed their record in duals for the year to 9-2, as Scranton bested East Stroudsburg at home Wednesday (24-15), then knocked off Penn Tech (22-15) and York (Pa.) (22-16) Saturday at the Penn Tech Duals in Williamsport.
In all four matches (and in Scranton's loss to Washington & Lee on Saturday), Connelly was victorious in his bout at 285 pounds to remain unbeaten on the season, as he now sits at 11-0 overall for the year. Overall, in the East Stroudsburg match, he posted a 10-2 major decision win, while at the Penn Tech Duals, he had a trio of wins by decision, ending the day with a 10-4 win over Washington & Lee.
Connelly and the rest of The University of Scranton wrestling team will be back in action on Sunday, Dec. 8 when they travel to the Bob Quaid Open at Centenary University. Action starts at 9 a.m.
