Junior midfielder Kelly Egan (Essex Fells, N.J./West Essex) had quite a week for The University of Scranton women's soccer team, scoring a pair of goals and adding two assists as the Royals won twice. For her efforts, she has been named the Landmark Conference Defensive Athlete of the Week for women's soccer.
Egan scored in each of the Royals' victories last week and has now scored in three straight matches, all wins. Her week started with a goal and two assists in a 7-1 win over Marywood on Wednesday, Sept. 16. She tied the match with a goal in the 22nd minute, assisted on the go-ahead goal four minutes later, and added an assist on an insurance goal in the second half.
Three days later, Egan was the only player to find the back of the net in a 1-0 win at Farmingdale State. Her shot in the 18th minute was her only shot of the match, but it was all the Royals needed to post a road victory.
Egan now has three goals and two assists for eight points this season, tied for the team lead. For her career, she has seven goals and 12 assists for 26 points.
