Junior Jamie Hreniuk (West Caldwell, N.J./James Caldwell) scored a hat trick in the opening 18 minutes and freshman forward Mazie Stiles (Nyack, N.Y./Albertus Magnus) had three assists as The University of Scranton women's soccer team rolled to a 6-2 victory over Marywood on Wednesday night at Fitzpatrick Field.
Scranton (3-2-0) also received a pair of goals from senior midfielder Kelly Pompey (Scranton, Pa./Scranton Prep) and a goal from freshman midfielder Corinne McDonald (Chalfont, Pa./Central Bucks South) in the victory.
Hreniuk made sure there was little drama in this one, scoring in the second, 13th and 18th minutes, the first two on assists by Stiles.
Marywood (0-4-0) crept within striking distance with a goal in the 21st minute, but Pompey put the game away early in the second half with a goal 46 seconds after the restart and another in the 54th minute, that one on an assist from junior forward Erica Licari (Saint James, N.Y./Smithtown East).
The Pacers scored in the 74th minute before McDonald completed the scoring in the 89th minute on Stiles' third assist of the game.
Scranton finished the night with a 17-9 edge in shots and a 2-1 advantage in corner kicks. Hreniuk led the Royals with five shots while Pompey finished with two.
The Royals are back in action on Saturday, Sept. 16, when they travel to Farmingdale, N.Y. to take on Farmingdale State in a non-conference match at 1 p.m.
