Juniors Erica Licari (Saint James, N.Y./Smithtown East) and Jamie Hreniuk (West Caldwell, N.J./James Caldwell) of The University of Scranton women's soccer team have been named Scholar All-East Region by the United Soccer Coaches.

Licari was a first-team selection while Hreniuk was named to the second team. The United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-Region teams honor student-athletes for their work in the classroom and on the pitch. To be eligible, a student-athlete must be a junior or senior with a minimum grade-point average of 3.3, start at least 50 percent of his or her team's games and be "an elite player as supported by playing honors."

Licari has a double major in biology and philosophy, and has a cumulative GPA of 3.95, the highest on the first team. On the field, she was named first-team All-Mid-Atlantic Region by the United Soccer Coaches, the first player in the program to earn first-team honors since 2011.

Licari finished the year with six goals and four assists for 16 points, and was a dominant force throughout the season. She scored game-winning goals in victories over Moravian (1-0, Sept. 23), at Drew (4-0, Oct. 11) and in a Landmark Conference semifinal against Elizabethtown (3-0, Nov. 1).

A first-team all-Landmark Conference selection this season, Licari has 15 goals and 15 assists for 45 points in her career. She was a second-team all-Landmark Conference choice as a sophomore.

Hreniuk is an exercise science major with a 3.70 GPA. She was a second-team All-Mid-Atlantic Region choice at forward earlier this fall, becoming the 15th player in program history to earn all-region honors in multiple seasons.  She led the Royals this season with 12 goals and 25 total points, including game-winning goals against Marywood (6-2, Sept. 13) and Haverford (3-0, Oct. 18).

A first-team all-Landmark Conference selection in each of the past two seasons and Co-Offensive Player of the Year as a sophomore, Hreniuk has 25 goals and four assists for 54 career points. She is the first Royal to score at least 10 goals in back-to-back seasons since Sara Suchoski reached double digits three straight seasons from 2001 to 2003.

Both Licari and Hreniuk are now eligible for Scholar All-American honors from the United Soccer Coaches.
