DANBURY, Conn. – Sophomore midfielder Erin Toburen (Harleysville, Pa./Lansdale Catholic) twice and senior forward Jamie Hreniuk (West Caldwell, N.J./James Caldwell) pushed her scoring streak to three matches as The University of Scranton women's soccer team remained unbeaten with a 4-1 win at Western Connecticut State on Saturday.
Toburen scored twice in the second half, starting with a goal on an assist from freshman midfielder Grace Elliott (Westfield, N.J./Westfield) in the 66th minute. She added an unassisted goal in the 72nd minute to cap the scoring.
Hreniuk scored for the third straight game and pushed her season total to five goals by scoring just 49 seconds into the match on a corner kick by senior midfielder Taylor Stevens (Yardley, Pa./Villa Joseph Marie). It was Hreniuk's 30th career goal while Stevens picked up her first assist of the season and 24th of her career.
Scranton (3-0) also received a goal 22 seconds before halftime on an own goal by Western Connecticut State (1-3). The Colonials pulled within 2-1 on a goal in the 57th minute before Toburen put the game away with her back-to-back tallies.
