The University of Scranton women's swimming & diving team won their second meet in a row on Friday night, defeating visiting King's, 125-80 in the Bryon Center. The Royals improve to 2-0 on the young season while the Monarchs drop to 1-3.
Byrne won the 200 IM with a time of 2:14.16 before taking first in the 100 backstroke after touching the wall in 1:00.21.
Campo took first in the 100 freestyle by clocking in at 56.07 and also won the 100 breaststroke with a mark of 1:08.95.
Senior Lucy Fulton (Wayne, Pa./Radnor) also claimed a first place finish on the evening, taking first in the 50 freestyle with a time of 26.14.
The Royals won both relay events on the evening as Byrne, Campo, senior Claire Mason (Livingston, N.J./Mt. St. Dominic Academy), and sophomore Marycate O'Sullivan (Nanuet, N.Y./Nanuet) opened the meet by taking first in the 400 medley relay by clocking in at 4:07.04.
Fulton, junior Anne Gormley (Havertown, Pa./Merion Mercy Academy), freshman Amber Diehl (Hyde Park, N.Y./Franklin D. Roosevelt), and junior Elizabeth Howlin (Smithtown, N.Y./Smithtown West) capped the night by finishing the 200 freestyle relay in 1:44.78 to win the event.
Diehl added to runner-up finishes against the Monarchs, taking second in the 50 freestyle and the 100 breaststroke.
O'Sullivan placed second in the 100 butterfly while Mason claimed a runner-up result in the 500 freestyle.
Seniors Emma Rose Ilseman (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central), Susannah Ilseman (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central), and Bailey Potter (Southington, Conn./Southington), along with junior Grace Cieri (Collegeville, Pa./Spring-Ford), combined for a second place finish in the 200 freestyle relay.
Scranton will be right back in action on Saturday, traveling to Juniata to compete against the Eagles and Goucher. The tri-meet will start at 1 p.m. in Huntingdon, Pa.
