Sophomore Audrey Campo (Clarks Summit, Pa./Scranton Prep) led The University of Scranton women's swimming & diving team to the overall championship at this past weekend's Diamond City Invitational, winning three individual events and competing on a trio of winning relay teams to pace the Royals. As a result, she has been named The University of Scranton Athlete of the Week.
Campo had an outstanding performance on Saturday. In individual events, she won the 50 freestyle, the 400 IM, and the 100 breaststroke.
She took gold in the 50 freestyle with a time of 24.73, was first in the 400 IM with a mark of 4:45.78, and touched first in the 100 breaststroke by pacing the field in 1:06.32.
Campo also swam a leg on three relay squads that picked up first place finishes for Scranton. In the 200 freestyle, she helped the Royals post a winning time of 1:41.31 before leading the 200 medley relay squad to a first place finish and a mark of 1:51.10.
In the 800 freestyle relay, she again helped Scranton to gold as the Royals paced the field in 8:10.78.
Campo also helped Scranton notch a runner-up result in the 400 medley relay as the Royals clocked in at 4:40.92.
Campo and the Royals will return to the pool on Saturday, December 1 with a dual meet at Ramapo starting at 2 p.m. in Mahwah, N.J.
