Byrne Has Strong Day, as Women's Swimming & Diving Falls at Susquehanna in Dual Meet

SELINSGROVE, Pa. - The University of Scranton women's swimming & diving team dropped a dual meet at Susquehanna on Saturday afternoon, falling by a score of 159-122 to the host Riverhawks.

With the defeat, Scranton fell to 8-2 on the season in dual meets.

On the day, Scranton's first victory in an event came in the 200-freestyle, where sophomore Lauren Byrne (Cranford, N.J./Cranford) was victorious by almost three seconds with a time of 1:57.73. Fellow sophomore Marycate O'Sullivan (Nanuet, N.Y./Nanuet) was then a victor in the 100-backstroke in 1:02.45, while another sophomore Audrey Campo (Clarks Summit, Pa./Scranton Prep) won the 100-backstroke in 1:08.11.

As the meet continued, both Byrne and Campo became two-time winners on the day, as Byrne captured the 200-backstroke (2:11.31) and Campo took the 200-breaststroke (2:29.41).

On the diving board, sophomore Mackenzie Morret (Boiling Springs, Pa./Boiling Springs) went on to take the one-meter dive with a total score of 339.20, while Byrne finished off a banner day with her third win of the afternoon in the 200-IM, dominating the competition with a time of 2:14.43, taking the event by over four seconds.

The University of Scranton women's swimming & diving team is now not scheduled to return to action until the 2019 Landmark Conference Championships, which will be held in Germantown, Md. Feb. 15-17. Any updates to the Royals' schedule will be made available by clicking here.
