SCRANTON, Pa. – Sophomore Amber Diehl (Hyde Park, N.Y./Franklin D. Roosevelt) and senior Jenna Harper (Easton, Pa./Easton Area) registered two victories apiece to lead the way for The University of Scranton women's swimming and diving team (1-0) in a 148-71 victory over Marywood (0-1) in a non-conference dual meet on Sunday afternoon at Marywood.
Diehl tallied victories in the 100 free (57.08) and 200 free (2:04.93), while Harper came out victorious in the 200 IM (2:22.03) and 500 free (5:51.27). Senior Hailey Kenyon (Ringoes, N.J./Hunterdon Central) finished second for the Royals in the 200 free with a time of 2:10.23 and freshman Danielle Pikulik (Smithtown, N.Y./St. Anthony's) took second in the 200 IM in a time of 2:26.10.
Other winners for Scranton included Pikulik in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:11.32, junior Audrey Campo (Clarks Summit, Pa./Scranton Prep) in the 50 free with a time of 25:91, junior Marycate O'Sullivan (Nanuet, N.Y./Nanuet) in the 100 butterfly in a time of 1:04.59, junior Lauren Byrne in the 100 backstroke (1:01.56) and freshman Jeanna Gailius (Milton, Mass./Ursuline Academy) in three-meter diving with a score of 186.75 points. Kenyon finished right on the heels of O'Sullivan in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:04.66.
The Royals also captured a pair of relay victories in the 200 medley and 400 freestyle relays. The quartet of O'Sullivan, Pikulik, senior Elizabeth Howlin (Smithtown, N.Y./Smithtown West) and Diehl won the 200 medley race in a time of 1:55.25 and Campo, freshman Erin Chlebove (Allentown, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic), senior Grace Cieri (Collegeville, Pa./Spring-Ford) and Byrne took home the 400 free relay with a time of 3:51.23.
Freshman Lauren McGuire (Pearl River, N.Y./Pearl River) added a second place finish for the Royals in the 50 free with a time of 26.58 and junior Mackenzie Morret (Boiling Springs, Pa./Boiling Springs) finished second in one-meter diving with a score of 188.50 points.
The University of Scranton women's swimming and diving team returns to the pool for a dual meet at Catholic on Saturday, Oct. 26 at 1 p.m.
