For the sixth time in her career at The University of Scranton. junior Lauren Byrne (Cranford, N.J./Cranford) of the women's swimming & diving was named the Landmark Conference Athlete of the Week on Monday.
On Saturday at Catholic, Byrne was dominant on the afternoon, as she won three individual events and helped the Royals win a relay event.
In the event, Byrne won the 100-backstroke in a time of 59.92, 200-backstroke in 2:12.24, and the 200-IM with a mark of 2:13.05. Bryne convincingly won each event, winning both the 100 and 200 backstroke by over three seconds, and the 200-IM by almost seven seconds. In relay events, Byrne swam first on Scranton's 200-medley relay squad, helping the team win the event by over three seconds with a mark of 1:51.77.
Byrne and the rest of The University of Scranton women's swimming & diving team returns to action on Friday night, as they travel to King's for another dual meet. Action gets underway at 6 p.m.
