Women's Tennis Captures Six Singles Titles at King's Fall Invitational

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The University of Scranton women's tennis saw six players win singles titles and added four doubles titles on the final day of the King's College Fall Invitational on Sunday.

Senior Nastashia DeNunzio (Dunmore, Pa./Dunmore) captured the victory for the Royals at the No. 1 singles flight with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Emily Fernandez of King's. DeNunzio dropped just three games over her three matches en route to the win.

Junior Marissa Campo (Green Lane, Pa./Christopher Dock) delivered a 6-1, 6-1 win against Arcadia's Casey Boldt in No. 3 singles action to take home the title.

At the No. 4 singles flight, senior Emily Kelly (West Chester, Pa./B. Reed Henderson) took care of Arcadia's Alex Volkow with a 6-1, 6-0 victory to register the win for the Royals.

Junior Kristen Denniston (Hawley, Pa./Wallenpaupack) got the best of Misericordia's Kayla Rembish with a 6-4, 6-2 decision at the No. 5 singles flight.

Freshman Lily Nowak (Freeland, Pa./Hazelton Area) lost just two games over her three matches on the weekend and captured the title at the No. 6 singles flight with a 6-1, 6-0 win over King's Addy Atkins.

In No. 7 singles action, the Royals' Lindsay Roberto (Princeton, N.J./Notre Dame) defeated Misericordia's Nicole Pangiochi 6-3, 6-1 to bring home the victory.

The duo of DeNunzio and Campo registered a thrilling 8-7 victory over a duo from Susquehanna to capture victory in No. 1 doubles action. Kelly and junior Tatiana Klacko (Scranton, Pa./Scranton Prep) took care of business against Mikayla Reynolds/Diana Rodriguez of King's with an 8-0 win at the No. 2 doubles flight. In No. 3 doubles action, Nowak/sophomore Claire Loughlin (Binghamton, N.Y./Seton Catholic Central) defeated Atkins/Lauren Lamarca of King's by an 8-1 margin and Denniston/Roberto took an 8-0 decision against a third duo from King's at the No. 4 doubles flight.

This marks the second straight year that DeNunzio, Denniston and Roberto have captured singles titles at the King's Fall Invitational.

The Royals will return to the courts on Sunday, Sept. 15 with a dual match at Lebanon Valley beginning at 1 p.m.
