Three Royals Compete at ITA Northeast Region Championships

GENEVA, N.Y. – The University of Scranton women's tennis team had three players compete at the ITA Northeast Region Championships that were hosted by Hobart and William Smith Colleges over the weekend.

Senior Nastashia DeNunzio (Dunmore, Pa./Dunmore) suffered her first loss of the season with a tough 6-1, 1-6, 3-10 loss to University of Rochester's Cami Ruiz Vega. Senior Emily Kelly (West Chester, Pa./B. Reed Henderson) was the other Royals player to compete in the singles draw and fell in straight sets to Brianna Ruback of Ithaca.

In doubles action, DeNunzio and junior Marissa Campo (Green Lane, Pa./Christopher Dock) fell to Judy Kam and Coco Kulle of NYU, 8-0.

DeNunzio and Kelly both won consolation matches on Sunday as the former defeated Ithaca's Rebecca Andrews 6-2 and Kelly registered a 6-5 (7-6) win over William Smith's Morgan Hamre. 

The Royals are slated to host East Stroudsburg in a dual match on Saturday, Sept. 28. First serves at Royal Courts is set for 11 a.m.
