Junior Marissa Campo (Green Lane, Pa./Christopher Dock) of The University of Scranton women's tennis team was named Landmark Conference Athlete of the Week as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.
Campo is the second Royals player to receive the weekly honor this season after senior Nastashia DeNunzio (Dunmore, Pa./Dunmore) won the award on Sept. 16.
The Green Lane, Pa. native helped Scranton close out the fall season in style with a 9-0 sweep of Messiah on Saturday. Campo registered a 6-0, 6-0 win over the Falcons' Kaylie Ryder in No. 2 singles and teamed up with DeNunzio to pick up an 8-2 victory at No. 1 doubles.
Campo tallied four victories in singles action this fall and also went 5-2 in doubles play with DeNunzio.
The Royals' season will resume in mid-March. Please check back to athletics.scranton.edu for a full schedule at a later date.
