Women’s Track & Field’s Nikki George Named University of Scranton Athlete of the Week

Freshman Nikki George (Denville, N.J./Morris Knolls) of the women's track & field team captured the lone event she ran in at last week's King's College Holiday Invitational, and for her efforts, she was named The University of Scranton Athlete of the Week on Tuesday for the period ending Apr. 19, 2018.

At the King's Holiday Invite, George captured the 800-meter run, crossing the finish line in 2:28.10 to win the event, besting nine other runners in the process.

For the outdoor season, George has finished in the top 12 in all four meets the Royals have participated in in the 800-meter run, registering her best time at the Coach Pollard Invite on Apr. 12 in 2:27.40. That time is currently eighth best in the Landmark Conference, as the Royals continue the push toward the Landmark Championships, which will be held at Goucher on May 4-5.

George and the rest of The University of Scranton women's track & field team will have one more warm-up event before the Landmark Championships on Saturday, as they head back to Wilkes-Barre for the Monarch Open which will be hosted by King's.
