ITHACA, N.Y., – The University of Scranton women's track and field team recorded a pair of top-five finishes as the Royals competed at the Marc Deneault Invitational featuring Division I, II and III schools at Cornell University in Ithaca on Saturday.
Below are some of the highlights from Saturday's action.
- The Royals' 4x400 relay team of sophomore AnnMarie Onwuka (Newburgh, N.Y./Newburgh Free Academy), sophomore Megan Gorman (Staten Island, N.Y./St. Joseph Hill Academy), sophomore Lea Credidio (Denville, N.J./Mountain Lakes) and freshman Noelle Gonzalez (Harrington Park, N.J./Northern Valley-Old Tappan) captured the event with a program record time of 4:20.09, which is the third best time in the Landmark Conference this season.
- Junior Rachel Kerr (Archbald, Pa./Scranton Prep) finished fifth in the 3,000 meter run with a time of 10:59.97 and was the top finisher among all Division III runners in the event.
- Freshman Darby Bennett (Panama City, Fla./Rutherford) took ninth place in the triple jump with a mark of 9.81m and classmate Meghan Winter (Peckville, Pa./Valley View) finished 10th with a mark of 9.63m.
- Gonzalez finished 11th in the long jump with a mark of 4.78m.
Scranton returns to action at the Landmark Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships that will be hosted by Susquehanna University on Saturday, Feb. 29.
