University of Scranton freshman setter Kindler Norman (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) of the volleyball team has stepped up and been a force on setting up a powerful Royals attack in their 17-1 start to their 2017 season.
For her efforts this past week, Norman has been named the University of Scranton's Athlete of the Week for the period ending Sept. 24 on Monday. This marks the first time in Norman's short career at Scranton she has been named the Athlete of the Week.
Norman only saw action in two of the four matches the Royals hosted inside the John Long Center this past weekend, but set up the attack in a pair of Scranton three-set victories over Keystone and Lycoming.
First, against Keystone, Norman had 30 assists, along with four digs and two block-assists. Then, against Lycoming, Norman had 35 assists, as the Royals rolled past the Warriors in three sets.
For the year, Norman has been impressive in her rookie campaign on the Royals. Overall, she has posted at least 30 assists in 15 matches she has played in, averaging 10 assists per set for the year. In all, Norman already has 512 assists for the year, while also posting 101 digs and 27 total blocks, as well.
Norman and the rest of the University of Scranton volleyball team returns to action on Tuesday, hosting SUNY-Oneonta at the John Long Center. First serve is set for 6 p.m.
