Three Royals Collect All-Landmark Conference Volleyball Honors

A trio of University of Scranton volleyball players were honored on Tuesday as the Landmark Conference released its end of year All-Conference teams and major award winners as voted on by the conference's head coaches.

Senior outside hitter Kristin Kirwan (Park Ridge, N.J./Immaculate Heart Academy) earned First Team honors while senior outside hitter Megan Monastra (West Chester, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) and sophomore setter Kindler Norman (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) garnered Second Team accolades.

Kirwan captured All-Landmark Conference honors for the fourth time in as many seasons with her third First Team selection.  The senior outside hitter enjoyed an outstanding year in which led the Landmark Conference in kills during the regular season, finishing the campaign with 442 kills and a .173 hitting percentage.  She also ranked third on the team with 316 digs and 38 aces to go along with 27 blocks.

Kirwan, who was a First Team AVCA All-Region and Honorable Mention All-American honoree last fall, broke both the University and Landmark Conference records for career kills this season and is one of just eight players in Royals history with at least 1,000 kills and digs, totaling 1,823 kills and 1,224 digs, 12th-best in program history.  She is also 10th all-time in total blocks with 175 and her .225 hitting percentage is 19th in Scranton history.

Monastra was honored as a Second Team All-Landmark Conference selection after a strong senior season for the Royals.  The outside hitter ranked second on the team and ninth in the conference with 292 kills and served up a team-leading 58 aces, the second most in the conference and tied for the 16th most in a season in program history.  Monastra also picked up 387 digs during the fall, the second-most in the Scranton lineup, while contributing 31 blocks.

Monastra finished her career with 747 kills, the 19th best total in Scranton history, while her 694 digs are the 24th most in program history. Her 88 aces and 73 block assists during her career both rank 25th best in the respective categories.

Norman captured All-Landmark Conference honors for the second time in as many years by being named Second Team All-Conference a year after collecting Landmark Rookie of the Year and First Team honors.  The sophomore led Scranton and ranked fifth in the conference with 900 assists, the 12th highest total in program history.  Norman averaged 8.82 assists per set, the fourth-best total in the league, while also contributing 221 digs, 77 kills, 37 blocks, and 34 aces.

Norman, who was named to the Arcadia Knights' Invitational All-Tournament Team, is sixth all-time in Royals' history in assists with 2,146 helpers after just two seasons.  Her 79 block assists are tied for 23rd most in program history and she already sits just outside the top-25 in both digs (519) and aces (76).

Scranton posted a 19-17 (3-3 Landmark) record this past season and qualified for the Landmark Conference playoffs for the ninth straight season before falling to top-seeded and sixth-ranked Juniata in the semifinal round.
