Senior outside hitter Kristin Kirwan (Park Ridge, N.J./Immaculate Heart Academy) of The University of Scranton volleyball team recently concluded one of the most decorated careers in program history. On Thursday, she added to an already impressive resume by being selected to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-East Region Honorable Mention Team.
Kirwan garnered All-Region honors for the second straight season after being a First Team and Honorable Mention All-American pick last fall. She closed out her career with an outstanding season in 2018, leading the Landmark Conference during the regular season with 442 kills while posting 316 digs, 38 aces, and 27 blocks.
Despite the Royals' season having ended just over a week ago and with other team's continuing in the NCAA Tournament, Kirwan currently ranks 12th in the country in kills this season and is 11th in total attacks.
This past season, she broke both the University and Landmark Conference all-time kills record, finishing her career with 1,823 kills. She also picked up 1,224 digs in her career to become one of just eight players in Royals' history with at least 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs in a Scranton uniform.
In addition to sitting atop of Scranton's all-time leaders in kills and total attack, Kirwan ranks 10th in program history blocks, 12th in digs, and 19th in hitting percentage with a .225 mark.
