Junior Jillian Graham (Wantagh, N.Y./Wantagh) led the way for The University of Scranton volleyball team on Saturday in a pair of victories, and for her efforts, she was named the Scranton Athlete of the Week on Monday for the first time in her career.
On Saturday, Graham went into double-figures in kills to lead Scranton past Geneseo (3-1) and Rowan (3-0), as Scranton improved to 8-5 overall with the pair of victories.
Against Geneseo, Graham matched a career-high (set earlier in the season vs. RIT) with 16 kills, including two in the final moments of the decisive fourth set that sparked the Royals to a victory.
In the Rowan match, Graham followed that performance up with 14 more kills, as the Royals ended the day with a three-set sweep. Once again, Graham led the way in the final moments of a clinching set, as she posted a block-assist and the game-winning kill in the last game.
Overall, for the year, Graham has gone into double-figures in kills three times and is averaging 2.37 kills per set. With 83 total kills for the year, she is currently third on the team in the category, while also posting 14 block-assists up for the Royals, as well.
The University of Scranton volleyball team returns to action on Friday, as they take on Stevens in a neutral site match at Susquehanna University. First serve in Selinsgrove is set for 5 p.m.
