DALLAS, Pa. – Sophomore Rachel Kerr (Archbald, Pa./Scranton Prep) finished ninth to lead The University of Scranton women's cross country team to a third-place finish at the season-opening Misericordia Invitational on Friday evening at Misericordia University.
Kerr completed the 4,000-meter course in 16:24.0 for the first top-10 finish of her career. Her effort helped the Royals finish with 77 points, well behind the host Misericordia, which took first place with 27 points, just ahead of Lebanon Valley's 30 points.
Sophomore Abigail Guziewicz (Carbondale, Pa./Holy Cross) was the second Royal across the line with a time of 16:43.0, finishing 13th. Freshman Jessica Hoffmann (Millington, N.J./Watchung Hills) was next for Scranton, finishing 16th with a time of 16:57.2.
The Royals will be back in action on Saturday, Sept. 8, when they compete in the LVC Dutchmen XC Invite at Lebanon Valley College in Annville, Pa.
