Sophomore Rachel Kerr (Archbald, Pa./Scranton Prep) has been the top runner for The University of Scranton women's cross country team all season. On Saturday, she solidified her status with a seventh-place finish at the Landmark Conference, earning her first-team all-conference honors.
Kerr set a new personal best for 6,000 meters on Saturday at Union Canal Tunnel Park in Lebanon, Pa., completing the race in 23:32.06. She finished just nine second behind the overall champion and only four seconds out of fourth place. Her effort led the Royals to a fifth-place finish.
In the Royals' five events so far this season, Kerr has been the first Royal across the line in each of them. She has three top-10 finishes after she entered the season with a career-best finish of 43rd. Last season, she finished 60th at the Landmark Conference Championships.
Kerr and the women's cross country team will now prepare for the NCAA Mideast Regional on Saturday, Nov. 10, at DeSales University in Center Valley, Pa.
