CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – The University of Scranton women's cross country team placed 19th on Saturday at the NCAA Mideast Regional Championships hosted by DeSales.  The Royals totaled 551 points in the 6K race the featured 47 teams.

Sophomores Rachel Kerr (Archbald, Pa./Scranton Prep) and Abigail Guziewicz (Peckville, Pa./Holy Cross) paced Scranton with top-60 finishes on the day.  Kerr led the way in 57th place by completing the course in 24:35, just ahead of Guziewicz, whose time of 24:37 was good for 59th place.

Sophomore Emily de Onis (Blue Town, N.Y./Bayport/Blue Point) was the third Royal to cross the finish line, finishing in 25:33 to bring home a 117th place result while freshman Lauren Usaitis (DuBois, Pa./DuBois Area) clocking in at 26:13 to finish 156th overall.

Freshman Amanda Maughan (Rockville Centre, N.Y./South Side H.S.) posted a mark of 26:28, good for 172nd overall, sophomore Nicole Parello (Staten Island, N.Y./Susan E. Wagner H.S.) finished 200th by crossing the stripe in 27:05, and freshman Jessica Hoffmann (Millington, N.J./Watchung Hills) rounded out Scranton's finishers in 241st place with a time of 28:09.

John Hopkins ran away with the regional championship, totaling 36 points, less than half the total of runner-up Dickinson, which claimed second with 79 points.
