MADISON, N.J. - Senior forward Alexix Roman (Hawley, Pa./Wallenpaupack) led four University of Scranton women's basketball players who scored in double-figures with 18 points, as the Lady Royals opened up a big halftime lead on host Drew and never looked back in a 70-39 win on the road in Landmark Conference action on Wednesday night.

With the win, Scranton - now ranked 18th in the WBCA Coaches' Top 25 Rankings and 21st in the D3Hoops.com Top 25 - moved to 19-3 overall on the year, 8-3 in the Landmark Conference. Drew fell to 8-14 and 4-7 in the Landmark with the defeat.

To open the game, Drew went up early on the Lady Royals at 5-2, before Scranton heated up on offense, racing on a 14-0 run over a five-minute stretch in the first frame to open up a 16-5 lead with 3:23 left in the quarter.

Drew was able to cut the Scranton lead down to 20-13 after the first 10 minutes of action, then quickly sliced the lead to five points (20-15) in the first three minutes of the second quarter.

But, once again, Scranton went on a tear in the middle of a quarter, this time going on an 11-0 run to open a 31-15 lead with 4:17 left in the first half. That 16-point lead held throughout the rest of the period, as the Lady Royals went up 40-24 entering intermission.

In the second half, it was more of the same for Scranton, as they held Drew to just three points in the third quarter to open a 25-point lead on the Rangers entering the fourth period at 52-27. From there, the Lady Royals coasted, rolling to a 31-point victory on the road, their biggest of the Landmark Conference season to date by margin of victory.

Overall, Roman scored in double-figures for the 17th time in the last 18 games on Wednesday night, shooting 7-of-9 from the floor to finish with 18 points. Roman also pulled down six rebounds in the victory.

Elsewhere, three other Lady Royals scored in double-figures. Freshman forward Sofia Recupero (Whitestone, N.Y./Saint Francis Prep) finished with a season-high 12 points off the bench, while pulling down six rebounds.

Meanwhile, senior forward Sarah Payonk (Schwenksville, Pa./Spring-Ford) and junior forward Katie Feehery (Media, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) each had 10 points, apiece. Payonk also grabbed six rebounds, while Feehery scored her 10 points off the Lady Royals bench.

It was also a strong night for the Scranton defense, as they held Drew to just 27.6 percent shooting from the floor on the evening (19.4 percent in the second half). The Lady Royals also held a wide 47-22 rebounding advantage in the win over the Rangers, as well.

The University of Scranton women's basketball team continues its road swing on Saturday, as they travel to Catholic for a big Landmark Conference showdown. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.
