ITHACA, N.Y. – The University of Scranton men's track & field team was in action on Saturday at the Marc Denault Invitational at Cornell University.
Freshman Matt Kinback (Factoryville, Pa./Lackawanna Trail) had the top performance for the Royals, finishing eighth in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:59.56.
Other performances of note for the Royals included:
- Sophomore Keyser Leepier (Scranton, Pa./Scranton) was 13th among 22 competitors in the long jump with a leap of 6.05 meters (19 feet, 10.25 inches). He was also 18th among 32 competitors in the 60-meter dash in a time of 7.24 seconds.
- Senior Kyle Robbins (South Windsor, Conn./South Windsor) was 16th out of 22 in the long jump with a leap of 5.74 meters (18 feet, 10 inches). He was also 17th among 30 runners in the 200-meter dash in a time of 24.30 seconds.
- Junior Mark Merli (Peckville, Pa./Valley View) finished 14th out of 22 in the long jump with a leap of 5.97 meters (19 feet, 7 inches).
- Junior Stephen Grunbok (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Our Lady of Lourdes) was 16th among 34 runners in the 800 meters with a time of 2:02.58.
- Junior Matt Barrett (Clarks Summit, Pa./Abington Heights) finished 20th among 36 runners in the mile, finishing in 4:36.69.
- Junior Andrew Charway (Irvington, N.J./Christ The King Prep) was 20th out of 30 runners in the 200 meters in 24.64 seconds.
The Royals will now prepare for the Landmark Conference Indoor Championships on Saturday, Feb. 24, at Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, Pa.
