SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Senior Kyle Robbins (South Windsor, Conn./South Windsor) finished fifth in the triple jump and junior Mark Merli (Peckville, Pa./Valley View) and sophomore Keyser Leepier (Scranton, Pa./Scranton) both had top-10 finishes to lead The University of Scranton men's track & field team at the Susquehanna University Challenge on Saturday.
Robbins jumped 12.78 meters to finish fifth while Merli was eighth in the triple jump with a distance of 12.28 meters. Leepier also tied for eighth in the long jump with a distance of 6.23 meters.
"We had great performances today," said Royals head coach Ozzie Brown. "Our athletes continue to learn and grow in our sport, and we have our sights set on the Landmark Conference Championships (on Feb. 24)."
Scranton had two other top-20 finishes – freshman Matt Kinback (Factoryville, Pa./Lackawanna Trail) was 14th in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:03.66, and freshman Zachary Mead (Montrose, Pa./Montrose) was 15th in the mile with a time of 4:38.66.
The men's track & field team will be back in action on Feb. 17 when they compete in the Marc Deneault Invitational at Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y.
