BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The University of Scranton men's track & field team had five student-athletes earn top-20 finishes at the Coach P Invitational at Moravian on Friday and Saturday while competing against a mix of competition from all three NCAA divisions.
Royals earning top-20 finishes were:
- Sophomore Eric Bartlett (Sayville, N.Y./Sayville), who was 11th in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 16:25.01.
- Junior Mark Merli (Peckville, Pa./Valley View), who was 14th in the long jump with a leap of 6.41 meters (20 feet, 0.5 inches).
- Sophomore Maxwell Greene (Brewster, N.Y./Brewster), who was 17th in the 5,000-meter run in 16:53.73. It was his best career time in the 5,000-meter run.
- Sophomore Zachery Gutekunst (Ambler, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham), who was 18th in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 17:00.65, which was also a career-best effort.
- Freshman David Gerace (Pittman, N.J./Pittman), who finished 19th in the shot put with a throw of 12.5 meters (41 feet, 0.25 inches). That was a career-best effort for Gerace, both indoor and outdoor.
The men's track & field team will be back in action on Saturday, April 21, when the Royals compete in the All-American Meet at East Stroudsburg University in East Stroudsburg, Pa.
