EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – Sophomore Caroline Banas (Dallas, Pa./Holy Redeemer) of The University of Scranton women's track & field team cleared 1.58 meters to win the high jump in the All-American Meet at East Stroudsburg University on Saturday.
Banas was one of seven competitors to clear that height (5 feet, 2.25 inches), but was the only one to do it without a single miss along the way. All seven failed on their three attempts at 1.63 meters.
The Royals had five other notable performances on Saturday:
- Freshman Abigail Corrigan (Carbondale, Pa./Holy Cross) finished third among 10 competitors in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 10:53.01.
- Junior Emily Carr (Elmhurst, Pa./Scranton Prep) finished fifth among 16 runners in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 19:52.61.
- Sophomore Chrissy Noonan (North Baldwin, N.Y./Baldwin) placed 11th among 25 runners in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 17.16 seconds.
- Sophomore Hannah Tracy (Ramsey, N.J./Ramsey) was 11th among 26 throwers in the shot put with a toss of 10 meters (32 feet, 9.75 inches).
- Sophomore Nora Boussatta (Bloomfield, N.J./Bloomfield) finished 20th among 61 competitors in the 800-meter run in 2:29.57.
The women's track & field team competes in its final regular season outdoor event on Saturday, April 28, when the Royals take part in the Monarch Open at King's College in Wilkes-Barre, Pa.
