ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- Sophomore Caroline Banas (Dallas, Pa./Holy Redeemer) and freshman Abigail Corrigan (Carbondale, Pa./Holy Cross) of The University of Scranton women's track & field team both earned spots on the podium with their performances on the first day of the Landmark Conference Outdoor Championships on Saturday at Elizabethtown College.
Banas finished sixth in the long jump with a leap of 4.82 meters (15 feet, 9.75 inches). It was the best effort of the season in the long jump for Banas, whose previous best was 4.66 meters (15 feet, 3.5 inches) at the All-American Meet at East Stroudsburg University on April 21.
Corrigan placed seventh in the 1,500-meter run, clocking a time of 5:03.07. That time matched her season best, which she also accomplished at the Coach Pollard Invitational at Moravian College on April 14.
The second and final day of the Landmark Conference Outdoor Championships will begin at 9 a.m. on Sunday.
