SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Freshman Michael Trought broke two program records and sophomore Shane McKeon (Royersford, Pa./Pope John Paul II) won two events as The University of Scranton men's track and field team opened the indoor season at the River Hawks Opener that was hosted by Susquehanna University on Saturday.
Here are the highlights from the River Hawks Opener.
- Trought won the 400 meter dash in 53.471 seconds, edging out Marywood's Noah Schock who finished in 53.476 seconds. Trought's winning time broke the previous program record of 56.17 seconds that had been set by Andrew Charway on Jan. 26, 2019.
- Trought also finished second in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.21 seconds, breaking the previous school record of 7.27 seconds that had been set by Keyser Leepier on Feb. 17, 2018.
- McKeon captured the mile with a time of 4:29.91 and won the 800 meter race with a time of 2:01.74.
- Senior Mark Merli (Pecksville, Pa./Valley View) finished fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 11.90 meters.
The University of Scranton men's track and field team will enjoy the holiday break before returning to action on Saturday, Jan. 25 at the Collegeville Classic hosted by Ursinus College.
