SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Sophomores Nikki George (Denville, N.J./Morris Knolls) and Jessica Hoffmann (Millington, N.J./Watchung Hills) both won events at the River Hawks Opener as The University of Scranton women's track and field team opened the indoor season on Saturday at Susquehanna University.
Here are the highlights from Saturday's River Hawks Opener.
- George won the 800 meters with a time of 2:32.91 and the Royals took the top four places in the event. Sophomore Emma Connolly (Danbury, Conn./Immaculate) finished second in 2:37.80, sophomore Megan Gorman (Staten Island, N.Y./St. Joseph Hill Academy) took third in 2:39.56 and senior Amanda Kinback (Factoryville, Pa./Lackawanna Trail) finished fourth in 2:39.98.
- Hoffmann captured the 5,000 meter run in a time of 18:39.88 and junior Rachel Kerr (Archbald, Pa./Scranton Prep) took third in 19:03.19.
- Freshman Noelle Gonzalez finished second in the 60 meter dash with a time of 8.66 seconds and took third in the long jump with a mark of 5.02 meters.
- Senior Chrissy Noonan (Baldwin, N.Y./Baldwin) registered a second place finish in the 60 meter hurdles in a time of 10.17 seconds.
- Sophomore Meghan McGonigle (Mullica Hill, N.J./Gloucester Catholic) finished third in the high jump with a mark of 1.47 meters.
The University of Scranton women's indoor track and field team will resume action on Saturday, Jan. 25 at the Collegeville Classic hosted by Ursinus College.
