TOWSON, Md. – A trio of Royals led The University of Scranton men's track & field team on Saturday on the first day of competition at the Landmark Conference Outdoor Championship hosted by Goucher.
Senior Andrew Charway (Irvington, N.J./Christ the King Prep) qualified for the finals in both the 100 meter dash and the 200 meter dash which will be run on Sunday. In the 100, he clocked a time of 11.24 seconds to finish fourth in the preliminary round and clocked in at 22.79 seconds in the 200 prelims, also taking fourth.
Senior Mark Merli (Peckville, Pa./Valley View) earned a fifth place finish in the long jump competition with a personal record leap of 6.60 meters.
Freshman Sean Connolly (Danbury, Conn./Immaculate) finished sixth in the 10,000 meter run, clocking a time of 34:08.08.
Scranton will close out this spring's Landmark Conference Championships tomorrow at Goucher with the competition scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.
