COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Sophomore Jessica Hoffmann (Millington, N.J./Watchung Hills) won the 3,000 meters and The University of Scranton women's track and field team finished fifth at the Collegeville Classic that was hosted by Ursinus College on Saturday.
The Royals finished fifth in the team standings with 34 points. Ursinus was the top finisher among Division III schools with 52.5 points.
Here are some of the highlights from Saturday's action:
- Hoffmann won the 3,000 meters in a time of 10:48.28 which is the second fastest time in program history. Freshman Sarah Kern (Monroe, N.Y./Monroe-Woodbury) finished third in the event with a time of 11:18.76.
- Sophomore Nikki George (Denville, N.J./Morris Knolls) finished sixth in the 800 meter dash in a time of 2:32.06.
- The Royals' relay team finished fourth in the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 4:31.93.
- Freshman Jasmine Ahmed (Farmingville, N.Y./Sachem East) and sophomore Meghan McGonigle (Mullica Hill, N.J./Gloucester Catholic) finished sixth in the high jump with a mark of 1.37m.
The University of Scranton women's track and field team returns to action at the SU Challenge that will be hosted by Susquehanna University on Saturday, Feb. 1 at 9:30 a.m.
