SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The University of Scranton men's track and field team registered several top-five finishes at the SU Invitational that was hosted by Susquehanna University on Saturday.
Below are some of the highlights from Saturday's action.
- Junior Matt Kinback (Factoryville, Pa./Lackawanna Trail) broke his own program record and finished third in the mile with a time of 4:25.56, which is the third fastest time in the Landmark Conference this season.
- Freshman Liam Mead (Montrose, Pa./Montrose) finished fourth in the 3,000 meter run with a time of 9:02.42 and senior Zach Gutekunst (Ambler, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) finished eighth in the event with a time of 9:05.57.
- Sophomore Phil Cocco (Hughestown, Pa./Pittston Area) set a new school record in the shot put with a mark of 13.93m to finish fifth in the event. The mark of 13.93m is the third best in the Landmark this season.
- Senior Mark Merli (Peckville, Pa./Valley View) broke a program record in triple jump and finished sixth with a mark of 13.09m. Merli's leap breaks the previous record of 12.83m that had been set by Kyle Robbins on Feb. 24, 2018.
The Royals are back in action at the Marc Deneualt Invitational that will be hosted by Cornell University on Saturday, Feb. 22.
