ITHACA, N.Y. -- The University of Scranton men's track and field team posted a number of impressive performances and broke a program record at the Marc Deneault Invitational that was hosted by Cornell University on Saturday in Ithaca.
Here are some of the highlights from Saturday's meet.
- Freshman Trevor Klosinski (Madison, N.J./Madison) finished fourth in the 400 meter dash with a program record time of 53.20 seconds and classmate Michael Trought (New Rochelle, N.Y./New Rochelle) finished sixth in a time of 53.32.
- The Royals' distance medley relay team of juniors Jack Patwell (East Greenbush, N.Y./Columbia) and Matt Kinback (Factoryville, Pa./Lackawanna Trail) along with freshmen Stephen Haggerty (South Abington Township, Pa./Abington Heights) and Kenneth Kincel (Madison Township, Pa./Scranton Prep) finished second in a time of 11:15.31.
- Freshman Daniel Finning (Rockville Centre, N.Y./South Side) finished third in the 5,000 meters with a time of 16:02.21.
- Kincel finished third in the 600 meters in a time of 1:33.52 and fellow freshman Russell Young (Morristown, N.Y./Oswego) took fourth in 1:33.93.
- Kinback took home a sixth place finish in the 1,000 meters in a time of 2:34.70.
- Freshman Liam Mead (Montrose, Pa./Montrose) recorded a seventh place finish in the 3,000 meters with a time of 9:00.08.
The Royals return to the track at the Landmark Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships that will be hosted by Susquehanna University on Saturday, Feb. 29.
