UTICA, N.Y. – The University of Scranton women's track and field team broke a total of four program records at the Blue & Orange Invitational and Multi hosted by Utica College on Saturday.
Below are some of the highlights from Saturday's meet.
- Sophomore Jessica Hoffmann (Millington, N.J./Watchung Hills) finished second in the 3,000 meters with a time of 10:48.44 and was the top finisher among all Division III runners. Freshman Sarah Kern took fourth in the event with a time of 10:59.11.
- The Royals' 4x200 relay team of freshman Jasmine Ahmed (Farmingville, N.Y./Sachem East), sophomore AnnMarie Onwuka (Newburgh, N.Y./Newburgh Free Academy), sophomore Ariana Baldwin (Far Rockaway, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial) and freshman Noelle Gonzalez (Harrington Park, N.J./Northern Valley-Old Tappan) finished third in a time of 1:53.35, which is a new program record and the second fastest clip in the Landmark Conference this season.
- Gonzalez set a new program record in the 200 meters with a time of 28.08, just breaking the previous program-best of 28.13 that had been set by Onwuka on Feb. 16, 2019.
- Sophomore Christina Piscitelli (New City, N.Y./Clarkstown South) broke a program record in the weight throw with a mark of 12.80m, which is the best mark in the Landmark Conference this year.
- Scranton finished sixth in the 4x400 relay as the quartet of sophomore Lea Credidio (Denville, N.J./Mountain Lakes), sophomore Megan Gorman (Staten Island, N.Y./St. Joseph Hill), freshman Abigail Sheehan (Wckyoff, N.J./Academy of the Holy Angels) and Onwuka with a new program-best time of 4:23.71.
The Royals return to action at the SU Invitational that will be hosted by Susquehanna University on Saturday, Feb. 15 beginning at 9:30 a.m.
