SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The University of Scranton men's track and field team registered four individual victories at the SU Early Season Invite that was hosted by Susquehanna University at the Garrett Sports Complex Field House on Saturday.
This marked the first indoor meet of the season for the Royals and the first for the program since the AARTFC Regional Championships on Mar. 6-7, 2020.
Below are some of the highlights from Saturday's meet.
- Junior Michael Trought (New Rochelle, N.Y./New Rochelle) won the 400 meter dash in a time of 54.27 seconds, while fellow junior Luke Shannon (Rockville Centre, N.Y./South Side) captured the 800 meters with a time of 2:01.07.
- Other winners on the day for Scranton included sophomore Timothy Lanahan (Mendham, N.J./Mendham) in the mile at 4:39.23 and senior Shane McKeon (Royersford, Pa./Pope John Paul II) in the 3,000 meters in 9:07.00.
- Lanahan added a second place finish in the 3,000 meters and edged out junior Nicholas Gershey (South Abington Township, Pa./Scranton Prep) who took second in the mile with a time of 4:40.12.
- Trought finished third in the 200 meters in 23.93 seconds, which ties his personal-best time and the second-fastest clip in program history.
- Freshman Brendon Arcara (Chester Springs, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) added a third place finish in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 9.45 seconds.
- The quartet of sophomore Shervin Mokhtari (Clarks Summit, Pa./Abington Heights), Trought, McKeon and Shannon finished second in the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 3:39.49.
The Royals will be off until the New Year and will return to the track for the Moravian University Indoor Meet on Saturday, Jan. 22 at 10 a.m.
