BETHLEHEM, Pa. – For the second straight week, junior Ally Maniscalco (Deer Park, N.Y./Deer Park) won the pole vault and broke her own outdoor program record as The University of Scranton women's track and field team finished second in the team standings at the Greyhound Invitational hosted by Moravian College on Saturday.
The Royals finished second with 141 points and Moravian captured the team title.
Here are some of the highlights from Saturday's meet.
- Maniscalco captured the pole vault with a mark of 2.89m which is the top mark in the Landmark Conference this season and the 13th best in the Division III Mideast Region this season. A week ago at the SU Easter Meet, Maniscalco won the pole vault with a 2.75m mark.
- Other event winners for the Royals included junior Meghan McGonigle (Mullica Hill, N.J./Gloucester Catholic) who won the high jump with a mark of 1.50m, sophomore Meghan Winter (Peckville, Pa./Valley View) captured the triple jump with a leap of 10.10m which shattered the previous outdoor program record of 8.77m and senior Emily de Onis (Blue Point, N.Y./Bayport-Blue Point) won the 3,000 meter steeplechase in a time of 12:11.75. In the high jump, sophomore Jasmine Ahmed (Farmingville, N.Y./Sachem East) finished second with a mark of 1.37m.
- Winter also finished third in the long jump with a mark of 4.94m.
- Scranton took the top three places in the triple jump as freshman Jessica Tsu (Valley Stream, N.Y./Valley Stream North) finished second behind Winter with a mark of 9.92m and sophomore Darby Bennett (Panama City, Fla./Rutherford) finished third with a mark of 9.74m.
- Freshman Alex Ferrador (Hazlet, N.J./Raritan) took second in the shot put with a mark of 10.44m which marked a new outdoor program record and fourth in the discus throw at 31.08m. Junior Katherine Fafian (Staten Island, N.Y./Notre Dame Academy) finished second in the hammer throw with a mark of 33.00m.
- On the track, junior Jessica Hoffmann (Millington, N.J./Watchung Hills) finished second in the 5,000 meter run at 18:36.32, while freshman Olivia Tullman (Chester Springs, Pa./The Hill School) placed third in the 800 meters (2:41.10) and fourth in the 1500 (5:21.02).
The University of Scranton women's track and field team returns to action at the River Hawk Classic hosted by Susquehanna University on Saturday, April 17 beginning at 9 a.m.
