HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Three student-athletes won individual events to lead the efforts for The University of Scranton women's track & field team at the Juniata Invitational on Saturday in Huntingdon.
Here are some of the highlights from Saturday's action.
- Junior Ally Maniscalco (Deer Park, N.Y./Deer Park) broke her own outdoor program record and captured the pole vault with a mark of 2.95m. The 2.95m is the best mark in the Landmark Conference this season and this marks the fourth straight week that Maniscalco has won the pole vault.
- Fellow junior Christina Piscitelli (New City, N.Y./Clarkstown South) won the hammer throw for the second time in as many weeks with a mark of 37.32m, while junior Jessica Hoffmann (Millington, N.J./Watchung Hills) won the 5,000 meters with a season-best time of 18:30.11.
- Hoffmann's classmate, Lindsay Notarianni (Scranton, Pa./Scranton Prep), finished second in the 5,000 in 19:24.81 and third in the 3,000 with a time of 11:06.70.
- Sophomore Noelle Gonzalez (Harrington Park, N.J./Northern Valley-Old Tappan) matched the program's outdoor record in the with a time of 27.31 seconds, matching the record that Caroline Banas had set on April 14, 2018.
- Senior Emily de Onis (Blue Point, N.Y./Bayport-Blue Point) took second in the 3,000 meters with a time of 11:06.07 and placed third in the 1500 (5:09.16).
- Freshman Alex Ferrador (Hazlet, N.J./Raritan) finished second in the discus with a mark of 32.96m, while classmate Jessica Tsu (Valley Stream, N.Y./Valley Stream North) took second in the triple jump with a leap of 9.98m.
- Sophomore Ashley Benham (Portland, Conn./Portland) took third in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:13.45.
The Royals return to the track on Saturday, May 1 for the Blue Jay Tune Up Meet hosted by Elizabethtown.
