BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Senior Jessica Hoffmann (Millington, N.J./Watchung Hills) broke her own indoor program record in the 5,000 meters to lead the efforts for The University of Scranton women's track and field team at the Moravian University Indoor Meet that was held on the campus of Lehigh University on Saturday.
Hoffmann now holds both the indoor and outdoor program record in the 5,000 meters.
Here are some of the highlights for the Royals at Saturday's meet.
- Hoffmann won the 5,000 meters with a time of 18:22.59, nearly 19 seconds ahead of the second place finisher in the event. Her winning time surpassed her previous indoor program record time of 18:39.88 that had been set on Dec. 7, 2019.
- Scranton also set a program record with a second place finish in the 4,000 meter Distance Medley relay as sophomore Olivia Tullman (Chester Springs, Pa./The Hill School), seniors AnnMarie Onwuka (Newburgh, N.Y./Newburgh Free Academy) and Megan Gorman (Staten Island, N.Y./St. Joseph Hill Academy) and Hoffmann completed the course in 13:30.61.
- Elsewhere for the Royals, junior Molly Neeson (Pottstown, Pa./Pottsgrove) finished eighth in the 3,000 meters with a time of 11:51.08 and sophomore Alex Ferrador (Hazlet, N.J./Raritan) took eighth in the shot put with a mark of 10.25m.
The Royals return to action at the Little Dip Invite that will be hosted by Franklin & Marshall on Friday with the meet slated to get underway at 2 p.m.
