SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Freshman Philip Danchik (Woodbine, Md./Mount Saint Joseph) and graduate student Luke Shannon (Rockville Centre, N.Y./South Side) both won individual events to lead the efforts for The University of Scranton men's track & field team at Saturday's SU Early Season Invite that was hosted by Susquehanna.

Here are some of the Royals' highlights from Saturday's meet.

• Danchik won the pole vault with a program-record mark of 3.65m, surpassing the previous best of 3.50m that had been set on Feb. 12, 2022. Junior Matthew Ginnetti (Pipersville, Pa./Holy Ghost Prep) took second in the pole vault at 3.35m.
• In the 800 meters, Shannon captured the race with a time of 2:00.33 as he held off Pitt-Johnstown's Noah Lee who finished second in 2:01.11.
• Junior Kyle Muirhead (Massapequa, N.Y./St. Anthony's) added a third place finish in the long jump with a mark of 6.31m and also took home sixth place in the high jump as he cleared 1.71m for the second best mark of his career.
• Elsewhere for Scranton, senior Nathan Bowen (Trumbull, Conn./Trumbull) finished sixth in the 400 meters with a time of 54.84 seconds and junior Shervin Mokhtari (Clarks Summit, Pa./Abington Heights) recorded a sixth place finish of his own in the 60 meter hurdles at 9.28 seconds, just .03 off his career-best of 9.25.

The Royals will return to the track in January for the Moravian University Indoor Meet that will be held at Lehigh on Jan. 21 beginning at 10 a.m.
