SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Senior Luke Shannon (Rockville Centre, N.Y./South Side) set a pair of personal-best times to lead the way for The University of Scranton men's track and field team at the Susquehanna Invitational on Saturday in Selinsgrove.
Here are some of the Royals' highlights from the day.
- Shannon finished second in the 800 meters in a time of 1:59.55, just behind Bloomsburg's Tyler Bailey who won the event in 1:59.37. Shannon's time is also the second fastest in the Landmark Conference this season.
- The Rockville Centre, N.Y., native also added a seventh place finish in the mile with a time of 4:35.22, a few seconds behind teammate and sophomore Timothy Lanahan (Mendham, N.J./Mendham) who finished fifth in 4:32.62.
- In the field events for the Royals, junior Kevin Duffy (Springfield, N.J./Seton Hall Prep) and sophomore Kyle Muirhead (Massapequa, N.Y./St. Anthony's) both set a new program record in the high jump with a mark of 1.74m, while fellow sophomore Matthew Ginnetti (Pipersville, Pa./Holy Ghost Prep) did the same in the pole vault with a mark of 3.50m. Ginnetti cleared 3.50m on his third and final attempt at the height.
The Royals will head right back to Selinsgrove on Friday as they compete in the SU Tune Up with action slated to get underway at 4 p.m.
