SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Seniors Megan Gorman (Staten Island, N.Y./St. Joseph Hill Academy), Lindsay Notarianni (Scranton, Pa./Scranton Prep) and Meghan McGonigle (Mullica Hill, N.J./Gloucester Catholic) all won individual events to lead The University of Scranton women's track and field team at the SU Tune Up meet hosted by the River Hawks on Friday in Selinsgrove.
Here are some of the highlights from Friday's meet for the Royals.
- Gorman broke the indoor program record and won the 800 meters with a time of 2:27.25, surpassing the previous program best time of 2:28.96 that had been set by Nora Boussatta on Feb. 24, 2018.
- In the 3,000 meters, Notarianni took home the individual crown in 11:12.61, just under a second ahead of Juniata's Emily Vogt who took second in 11:13.58.
- McGonigle paced the Royals in the field events as she won the high jump with a mark of 1.53m.
- Senior Jessica Hoffmann (Millington, N.J./Watchung Hills) and junior Sarah Kern (Monroe, N.Y./Monroe-Woodbury) both finished third in the mile (5:19.84) and 3,000 meters (11:43.02), respectively, while sophomore Alex Ferrador (Hazlet, N.J./Raritan) took fourth in the shot put with a mark of 10.31m.
The Royals return to the track next Saturday, Feb. 26, for the Landmark Conference Championships that will once again be hosted by Susquehanna.
